Week 3: Actors And Characters

Ellie Linton, Homer Yannos, Fiona Maxwell, Lee, Robyn Mathers, Corrie Mackenzie and  Chris Lang are the main characters in Tomorrow When The War Began. The actors that take upon these characters role in the movies are; Deniz Akdeniz, as Homer Yannos. Reptile, troublemaker, problem, slob, loud mouth, wild, crazy, immature; Homer Yannos is all of those things. He is also; a leader, a thinker, a planner as well as careful, innovative, caring, supportive, and brave.💠 Phoebe Tonkin plays the character of Fi Maxwell. She is set up to fail in the environment the group finds itself in. She is unassertive, pampered, with no real knowledge of camping or the bush. She is someone who has never done a day's hard work in a her life and even she knows it. Even she doubts she has what it takes to resist, to survive. Chris Pang plays the role of Lee Takkam. He is Solid, dependable, loving, passionate, considerate, caring, listening, thinking, mature, indifferent, withdrawn, introverted, aggressive, vicious, murderous, psychopathic. Lee is one of the most interesting characters in the “Tomorrow” series in my opinion. Ashleigh Cumming plays the role of Robyn Mathers. John Marsden dedicated the book to his older sister Robyn, the Robyn that we know from the story is based on her. John Marsden says that he bases 10% of his characters on real people. Robyn is a brave, noble character that would go to any extent to save her friends. Rachel Hurd-Wood plays the role of Corrie Mackenzie. Corrie is Ellie's very best friend, her mate, whom she had done everything with since she was a toddler and who she plans on doing everything with when they leave school. Corrie is a plump faced redhead girl, very close to Ellie's age, who used to severely lacked in confidence. She had advanced in leaps and bounds since Kevin had become her boyfriend. Corrie's determination also should not be under-estimated. When battling to find a way into Hell, Corrie had been one of the leaders:
"Finally Corrie said, 'There might be a chance if we wriggle through here. We might be able to get around the side somewhere.' Andrew Ryan plays the role of Chris Lang. I found a quote in the first book that I thought suited his character and describes him well: Chris was a lightly built boy with intense eyes and a lot of nervous habits, like coughing in the middle of every sentence. He wouldn't be into Commem Day or woodchopping competitions; he was more into the Grateful Dead, Hieronymus Bosch, and computers. He was also known for writing poetry and using more illegal substances than you'd find in the average police laboratory. His motto was 'If it grows, smoke it'. Ninety percent of the school thought he was weird, ten percent thought he was a legend, everybody thought he was a genius" ("Tomorrow, When the War Began", Ch 11, p154). Caitlin Stasey plays the role of Ellie Linton. Ellie is a trustworthy, independent, girl that likes adventure. Although she might get fired up she always comes back to her senses. The last character that I have chosen to write about is Lincoln Lewis who plays Kevin Holmes. Kevin has a hard time with the group, especially with Ellie. Ellie had always admired him for being so loyal to Corrie and for taking her to the hospital, forgetting about the possible consequences, but  he rarely receives credit from her or the rest of the group. Kevin can be scared and sometimes appears as a coward but he’s loyal to his friends and would never leave them behind.
